A Revolution in Sicilian Tourism: The Historical Coastal Naturalistic Path

The Scopello Historical Coastal Nature Trail is an immersive experience in nature and history. Combining sustainable tourism and territorial enhancement, the trail offers a journey through biodiversity, historical landmarks such as the Torre Doria and Casamatta, and exclusive access to the legendary Vasca della Regina.

This project, promoted by the Rubbio Internicola brothers, aims to encourage sustainable tourism that respects the integrity of nature. Their goal is to provide an experience that engages the senses and promotes environmental education, working in collaboration with the Palermo Botanical Garden for the conservation of local plant species.

The Historical Coastal Naturalistic Path in Scopello

The Historical Coastal Nature Trail, located in the heart of the historic center of Scopello, represents the link between man and the environment, following activities aimed at Sustainable Tourism. This private area, rich in biodiversity and of great historical and landscape interest, offers visitors equipped areas with exclusive access to the sea at the Faraglioni of Scopello in the legendary Queen's Pool.

The Historical Coastal Nature Trail of Torre di Scopello thus constitutes an itinerary to discover historical places and sites, such as Torre Doria (1595) and the Casamatta (1942), overlooking the Faraglioni and the ancient Tonnara.

Due to its strategic location, the Casamatta is now also open for internal visits, featuring an interesting exhibition.

Sea and Comfort: A Dive into Nature

The Historical Coastal Nature Trail has exclusive access to the sea at one of the most fascinating points in the bay of Scopello, the legendary Vasca della Regina, a charming rocky cove bathed by the crystal-clear waters of the Faraglioni.

The trail is also equipped with natural panoramic terraces among the lush nooks of dwarf palms and other species: the areas are furnished with comfortable sun loungers, above which shading sails create the perfect setting for refreshment and relaxation, in complete harmony with the surrounding nature, offering a suggestive view of the Faraglioni of Scopello and the Zingaro Nature Reserve.

For our guests who love relaxation, we offer an exclusive equipped platform that seems to be suspended above the sea, between the land and the Faraglioni: the impression will be like standing on the bow of a ship. In this space, you will enjoy a truly breathtaking panorama in privacy.

Sustainable Tourism: Territorial Enhancement and Redevelopment Project

The realization of the Historical Coastal Nature Trail of the Torre di Scopello, which extends over an area of over 50,000 square meters, is the result of an ambitious project aimed at enhancing a territory of historical and scenic interest, which introduces, in an innovative way, a significant turning point in the field of tourism: for the first time in western Sicily, an activity is undertaken that aims at environmental sustainability and the enhancement of a stretch of coastline that has been the backdrop to historically important events.

Therefore, the requalification of this coastal portion is aimed at promoting sustainable tourism that can involve and interest those who care, like the promoters of this project, about the unspoiled beauty of nature and the sea.

Projects and Objectives

Among the important objectives of the project initiated by the owners, particularly by the young entrepreneurs, Pierluigi and Gabriele Rubbio Internicola, is the desire to offer the public an experience that is not only historical and cultural but also sensory, bringing visitors closer to environmental awareness and education within vast and unspoiled spaces that open up to a lush, wild, and surprisingly unaltered landscape.

In line with a responsible and conscious approach to the landscape, a collaboration with the Botanical Garden of Palermo, represented by director Rosario Schicchi and Dr. Agr. Enrico Russo, is being carried out to map and catalog the different plant species in the area in order to study their changes and preserve their evolutionary stages.

The marine element also plays a fundamental role in the educational project. Efforts have been made to make the unquestioned symbol of this coastal section, the Faraglioni di Scopello, accessible to visitors, reachable by sea from the Vasca della Regina.

The fundamental characteristic of the spot is the presence of Posidonia Oceanica on the seabed, an endemic marine plant of the Mediterranean Sea, which constitutes the privileged habitat for colorful fish species that populate this pristine corner of the coast.
